چکیده

An investigation of fluoride (F) accumulation in Hordeum vulgare (barley) var. RD-2683 and its effect on the growth and crop yield was conducted in a pot experiment. Six different concentrations of F in the water were used for irrigation ranging from 4 to 20 ppm with distilled water as the control. Potentiometric determinations of the F content in different parts of the plant were made 45, 90, and 135 days after sowing the seeds (first, second, and third harvest, respectively). At the third harvest the highest mean plant part concentrations of F were recorded with 20 ppm F in the irrigation water: 17.36 μg/g in the roots, 13.06 μg/g in the shoots, 11.74 μg/g in the leaves, and 14.44 μg/g in the crop (grain).

Effect of Agronomic Practices on Growth, Grain Yield, Malt Yield Losses of Barley (Hordeum vulgare L.)

A field experiment was conducted during 2006-07 and 2007-08 at Ludhiana to study the effect of different agronomic practices on growth, grain yield, malt yield and losses of malt barley (Hordeum vulgare L.).The study revealed that plant height, dry matter accumulation, grain and straw yield were statistically at par with different method of sowing during both the years. Similar trend was also o...

Screening of Salt Tolerance in Different Varieties of Hordeum vulgare

Soil salinity is the major abiotic stress in plant agriculture strongly influencing productivity worldwide and it delimit the crop yield. Several abiotic stresses are united by the fact that at least part of their detrimental effect on plant performance is caused by disruption of plant water status. This can occur through decreased availability of water in the environment during drought, altere...

بررسی خصوصیات بیوشیمیایی و عملکرد دانه ژنوتیپ‌های منتخب جو وحشی (Hordeum vulgare ssp. spontaneum) در سطوح مختلف تنش خشکی

Drought is one of the most significant a biotic stresses that affecting plant’s growth and development wild barley, H.spontaneum, the progenitor of cultivated barley has a high potential in terms of tolerance to environmental stresses. This research was performed on nine genotypes of Hordeum spontaneum, to study drought tolerance in a split plot experiment based on Randomized Complete Blo...

SALINITY TOLERANCE IN BARLEY (HORDEUM VULGARE L.): EFFECTS OF VARYING NaCl, K/Na AND NaHCO3 LEVELS ON CULTIVARS DIFFERING IN TOLERANCE

Although barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) is regarded as salt tolerant among crop plants, its growth and plant development is severely affected by ionic and osmotic stresses in salt-affected soils. To elucidate the tolerance mechanism, growth and ion uptake of three barley cultivars, differing in salt tolerance, were examined under different levels of NaCl, K/Na and NaHCO3 in the root medium. The cu...
